Ferguson Plarre Bakehouses has proven to be an enduring and much-loved fixture of Victorian life for over a century. It’s a resilient business, surviving and thriving through recessions, wars and most recently the COVID-19 epidemic. We put our success down to what makes us famous, the quality of our food.
Our products are made from Australian, premium quality ingredients using time-tested recipes, some of which have not changed since our inception. We use fresh Victorian vegetables and herbs, real free-range eggs in our custard tarts, not powder…fresh cream, not mock and our savouries feature hormone-free beef and premium Victorian chicken. We do this because our customers can taste the difference and it keeps our customers coming back for decades. Our food has attracted hundreds of awards over the years and we’ve even had the honour of serving the Queen of England and the President of the United States!
We operate a franchise model for our bakehouses and we’re really good at it. We’ve been awarded the title of number one food franchise in Australia by the Top Franchise Awards every year since 2017. Our model is one of the simplest around, it’s honest, transparent and fair and our franchisees are backed by strong support from the moment they make their first enquiry.
That support comes from hundreds of people behind the scenes striving to make each and every franchise a success. Making the products are bakers, chefs, decorators, cleaners, delivery drivers, engineers and more. There’s award winning trainers and baristas, business support from network development, HR. finance and marketing teams and a dedicated team of business managers helping each and every franchisee maximise their potential.

The humble pie just got a little less humble.
Let’s face it, there are times when you just need the comfort only a pie can deliver – buttery crisp and crumbly pastry paired with hot rich and meaty fillings. Glorious. The problem is unless you pick up a pie from a bakery there’s no chance of finding a good one in the freezer at home. We checked.
We looked long and hard at what was available at the supermarket and found frozen pies galore but they were tasteless and boring with tough, chewy or hard pastry. We knew this had to change and we knew we could do better so we decided to create Pie Society. As a nation of pie lovers Australia deserved more.
Pie Society pies are found in the freezer aisle of the
supermarket but that’s where the similarities end. With three ranges and
ten different flavours our pies are different. We’ve taken 120 years of
baking know-how and a heap of premium fresh Australian ingredients and
turned them in to the ultimate quick and easy comfort food.
The key to giving you the best bakery style pastry experience from the freezer lies in freezing our pies unbaked – we make them, but you bake them. There’s no difference in cooking time but it means you get the fresh flaky pastry any bakery would be proud of.
Then there’s the flavours, each one carefully crafted by our team. For the adventurous why not choose something from our Artisanal range - new contemporary flavour combinations tested to tickle your tastebuds. Prefer something more familiar? The Heritage range uses premium ingredients to breathe new life into traditional recipes. Finally, the Meaty Vegan range is the ultimate way to eat Aussie classics just without the meat.
Pie Society products are available in Woolworths and IGA stores all over Australia with new independent stockists being added every day.
